Create your Parlour of Wonder
What are Parlours of Wonder?
Parlours of Wonder are community spaces in care settings where older people can interact with evocative objects designed to spark interest and intrigue, encouraging the sharing of memories and life histories. They are an ideal place to run intergenerational, creative and community focused activities with your residents.
As part of the Parlours of Wonder project, in collaboration with Bristol University and Stand + Stare, Alive has produced two downloadable resources to help you set up and run your own Parlour of Wonder.
Use these materials to set up your parlour
Design Blueprint - produced by project partners Stand + Stare, as a guide to how to set up and design a Parlour of Wonder space, ensuring it is co-produced with your residents. The space can be whatever you choose to make it!
Training Toolkit - produced by Alive, providing you with ideas and approaches to make use of your parlour space, whilst also making connections in your local community. Whether you are just starting out trying new activities in your care setting, or have been running a varied programme of activities and are ready to branch out, this guide provides you with guiding principles, and a range of practical examples suited to various levels of experience.
