Same Mind, Same Body – Project Coordinator
Afaf brings a wealth of experience in community health, dementia, cancer and health inequalities, both as a trained doctor and medical researcher.
She has a strong background in building partnerships, bringing people together and ensuring that communities are meaningfully involved in shaping the services and support that affect them.
At Alive, Afaf leads the Same Mind, Same Body project, which explores the experiences of older people living with both cancer and dementia, particularly those from Black Caribbean and South Asian communities.
Through community-led, culturally responsive work, the project aims to improve understanding and help create support that better reflects people’s needs, cultures and lived experiences.
Afaf is passionate about tackling inequalities and making sure every voice is heard. We feel incredibly fortunate to have her knowledge, compassion and experience leading this important project.
She likes going to the gym, baking and enjoying a good series or two on Netflix!
