Carmel returned to the Alive team in 2023 as a Support & Activity Worker at the North Somerset Dementia Meeting Centre. Having previously worked for the charity as their Client Services Officer, Carmel took on the role of Office & Services Manager in 2024.  

With a long career in administration, office management and customer service, Carmel loves organising the office, keeping everything in order and talking to people about Alive’s work. She also has a passion for engaging with people living with dementia, having been a carer for a close relative for 12 years. 

A strong advocate for the healing powers of nature and gardening, Carmel holds a Thrive Award in Social & Therapeutic Horticulture. and spent two years volunteering at Alive’s Community Gardening project in Lawrence Weston and then progressed to delivering STH sessions for the group.  

In her spare time, Carmel volunteers for a Pocket Park Community Garden in South Bristol and enjoys gardening, crafting, being in nature and by the coast, reading, theatre and live music
