Part of our varied programme of intergenerational work, Alive run free, monthly sessions for toddlers and their adults alongside older patients at the Bristol Royal Infirmary.
Funded by Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity, these sessions bring moments of joy, comfort, and hope to those who need it in hospital.
Getting Involved
Our free, monthly sessions are led by an artist practitioner, using storytelling, crafts, play, and music to inspire and engage older adults on the ward plus visiting toddlers and their grownups. With a different theme each month, we spread intergenerational magic amongst all our tea party guests.
The tea parties support NICE recommendations which promote the use of intergenerational activity as good practice to support an older person’s independence, physical and mental wellbeing.
Sessions include:
Children sharing their artwork from home with the patients
Singing with actions and movement
Arts and crafts
Refreshments
Specific tasks to support a patient’s therapy treatment plan

We had the best afternoon, our daughter doesn’t get to see her grandparents so this has been great!
The children are such a pleasure – I don’t get to see my own grandchildren as they live too far away.
The patients just light up the minute they arrive and see the children!
